Head of FRWO on the
sidelines of the ceremony of exploiting the Gundal earthen dam in Borujerd, told
reporters: "Some120 million Hectares of the country's watersheds need IWM
and aquifer management operations".
According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Masoud Mansour, Deputy Minister and Head
of FRWO reiterated:" So far, these
projects have been implemented at 31 million hectares, of which six million
hectares have been realized in the last 3 years."
Dr. Mansour stated that the funds for the implementation of these projects have been provided by the National Development Fund (NDF), noted that the implementation of IWM projects is subject to government funding, but in this regard, donors and other partnerships are also meet the needs.
Deputy Minister stated: "About 40 to 50% of meat is produced
in rangelands and 8650 villages of the country are located in high risk areas
prone to flash flood and water erosion, and implementation of IWM projects
helps the flood prevention, and reduces any future damages in the critical and
high-risk areas of flood-prone provinces".
