106 watershed projects of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province opened

Mahmoud Hojjati Minister of Agriculture Jahad visited the flood spreading project in Kolamoyi district, Lordegan city, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province. In this visit 106 watershed projects were opened simultaneously in the province.

According to FRWO’s website, Ali Mohammadi Moghaddam, Director General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari Province said that some 175 billion RLs has been spent for the implementation of these projects.

He also added that this year some 227 billion RLs have been allocated for the implementation of watershed and aquifers recharge projects in the province that has been spent for 149 projects in 30 watersheds.

Director General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari referred to the control of flood water, water infiltration in the underground aquifers and flood prevention as well control of soil erosion as the advantages of watershed management.

In this ceremony, the Governor-General of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari also announced the allocation of 10% of the national watershed budget to Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province.

Eqbal Abbasi added that the implementation of watershed management and aquifer recharge is especially important due to the recent decline in rainfall and drought occurrence.

He concluded that special attention should be paid to the watershed management and aquifer recharge since it is linked with the development of the province and resolving the problem of unemployment.
