Head of FRWO Visit Desertification Control plan in Khuzestan

Mr. Khalil Aghaei, deputy minister and head of FRWO visited desertification control plan in the province including sands dune stabilization operations in Ahvaz, Dasht-e- Azadegan, Shoush and Hamidieh and conferred with the local authorities last Thursday.
In this visit, he said that since November 2017, FRWO has stabilized nearly 15,000 hectares by mulching operation and has planted 10,000 hectares of seedlings in critical areas in Khuzestan Province.

He expressed hope that the collaboration and participation of local communities, desertification control projects have expedited the activities in nature management and emphasized that sands dune stabilization and dust storms control projects should provide both for livelihood of local people and  participatory conservation of natural resources.

He also expressed his satisfaction over the participatory plantation and rehabilitation project in 17000 ha in west Karhkeh river and stressed replication of the model in other areas of the province.
 
It should be noted that desertification control projects in Khuzestan started in the late sixties and natural resources administration of Khuzestan province have gained valuable experiences in this field by rehabilitation of more than 126 thousand hectares of planted forests in desert areas.
