The first Working group of " Development and Implementation of Master Plan for Environmental Conservation and Management of Southern Coastal Area of Iran "
The Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman, located in the southern coast of Iran possess variety of natural ecosystems ; mangroves, coral reefs, marine mammals, sea turtles ,sea birds and etc.. However, this unique ecosystem recently has been deteriorated by some anthropogenic activities and the lack of enough counter measurements against them.
 

The Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman, located in the southern coast of Iran possess variety of natural ecosystems ; mangroves, coral reefs, marine mammals, sea turtles ,sea birds and etc.. However, this unique ecosystem recently has been deteriorated by some anthropogenic activities and the lack of enough counter measurements against them.

JICA started a technical assistance project named "Development and Implementation of Master Plan for Environmental Conservation and Management of Southern Coastal Area of Iran" since September, 2017 with the Department of Environment (DoE) on the abovementioned back ground.

The Master Plan aims to take balance between development and environmental conservation of the coastal area. This Master Plan being implemented, it would be possible to alleviate the deterioration of the marine environment and the negative impact on ecosystem in this region while development is continuing.

4th Working Group of this project was held on 31st July 2018 at Bandarabbas, in Hormozgan Province with attendance of various related ministries, institutions and NGOs. The participants include Mr. Majid Vafadar, General Director of DoE Hormozgan, Mr. Reza Modares, Deputy Governor of Hormozgan Province, Mr. Hiroyuki Tanaka, Senior Representative of JICA Iran office, and Japanese expert team. The Working Group which consists of five sub group has an important role for the project in terms of collecting information and conducting survey which are essential for development of Master Plan.

Active discussions occurred based on collected information and result of conducted survey by each five sub group in this Working Group. In the end, Dr.Fadakar, Marin Environment Division of DoE headquater, praised the progress of outcome comparing with previous Working Group and explained the necessity of more active cooperation between each group.
