To Achieve Integrated Watershed Management in the Karoun, More Touch with JICA Needed
Deputy Head of Watershed Management, Rangeland and Desert Affairs of FRWO met with Japan's JICA team today in FRWO Headquarters about joint cooperation on Capacity Building of Forests and Rangelands Participatory Management project to be carried out in the upstream of Karun River basin and said that more cooperation is needed to achieve the goals of integrated watershed management in the Karun basin.
Nasser Heydari Puri also said that the formulation of a TOR is necessary for integration
of executive policies in the upstream provinces in Karoun basin. He added that
synergy is required among FRWO and JICA to further advance the implementation
of Forests and Rangelands Participatory Management project in Karun Basin.
"We have started the alignment
process from beginning of the current year which can be considered as an introduction
for the implementation of integrated watershed management plan." he noted.
He said that both JICA and FRWO need to provide their information and technical
contribution to the project for the proper implementation of IWM.
At the end of the session, the minutes of meeting of the first Joint Coordinating Committee, held in Yasouj in July 24 this year, for the second phase of the project, which runs for 5 years in 6 provinces in the Karoun basin, was signed by Mr. Hissa Mitachi, Project Manager of JICA and Nasser Heidari Puri, Deputy of FRWO.
