Mulching and planting operations open in 11,000 ha of Dry lands in Khuzestan

Chief of Staff and Head of Iranian President's office Mahmoud Vaezi, opened the mulching and plantation operation in 11,000 hectares of desert areas in Khuzestan province.

Director General of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Khuzestan Province said that the operation includes one thousand hectares in Chazaba and the rest in Susa, Azadegan plain and Ahvaz region. 

Ahmad Motiee added that due to the fact that the access road to Chazaba passes through this critical area, mulching has begun with priority in this area.

He stated that for the implementation of this project, 400 billion Rls is allocated and the implementation phase will continue until next April. Based on figures about 110 million liters of mulch would be needed for mulching of 11 thousand hectares of deserts and sand dunes in the province, which will be supplied from Abadan Refinery.

Motiee added that the planting operation will follow the mulching operation and emphasized that if the required mulch and credit are provided in a timely manner, the operation can be scaled up in 20,000 hectares in the region.
