Sustainable Management of the Country's Natural Resources is on the Agenda
Abbas Ali Nobakht Forest Deputy of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) said that sustainable management of the country's natural resources is on the agenda, and an executive guideline will be out for the conservation of rangelands in a near future.
According to the FRWO's website, Abbas
Ali Nobakht on Monday evening, in a regional gathering of the Northern
provinces hosted by the Golestan Natural Resources and Watershed Management department
said that in the past five years, the increase of temperature and reduction of moisture
due to climate change, has shifted the country towards drought.
He also added that based on official reports the recent rainfalls are
temporary, and the amount of it cannot even compensate for the drought impacts
of the previous years.
Nobakht stated that in addition to FRWO, other high ranking branches of the Islamic system including the Supreme Leader, heads of Executive, Judiciary and legislative bodies, as well as people, are concerned with the natural resources status and sensitively follow up the developments.
He reiterated that upon the command of the Supreme Leader, 200 million USD has been allocated from National Development Fund for the conservation, rehabilitation and development of natural resources. Nobakht also added that we are not responsible for the distribution of water, but we are responsible for the aquifers and combating dust storms in the country.
Nobakht emphasized that the heavy duty for preserving forests and rangelands prompted FRWO to insistently follow up the realization of plan to ban logging in the Caspian forests.
He stated that the elaboration of forestry and rangeland executive guidelines have been completed with the help of universities, FRWO and other stakeholders. He also emphasized that sustainable management of natural resources is not merely a physical activity but comprises of biological protection and conservation.
