FRWO and FAO to sign a MoU on Risk-Based Integrated Watershed Management

Iran and FAO are to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Risk-Based Integrated Watershed Management by the end of the current year.

According to the FRWO’s website, Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) on the sidelines of a meeting with the new representative of FAO in Iran, accompanied by the senior experts from FAO said that this joint partnership aims at improving livelihood of the communities, mitigating water scarcity, and reducing vulnerability in the Basin/Watersheds including IWM methodology, risk management, and monitoring the effectiveness of watershed activities in Iran.

 

 At the meeting, Dr. Gerold Bodeker, the new representative of FAO in Iran, expressed his satisfaction with the technical cooperation  with FRWO on IWM project in Iran and said that FAO is assisting Iran with the formulation of a UTF project document technically and financially.
