The Cultivation of Medicinal Plants is the Priority of the Agricultural Sector

Mahmoud Hojjati Minister of Agriculture Jahad said that the cultivation of medicinal plants and the development of herbal medicine industry are among the high priority programs of agricultural sector in the provinces.

According to FRWO’s website, Mahmoud Hojjati in the launching ceremony of the executive operation of agricultural projects in Borujen city on Thursday referred to the codification and approval of the Resilient Economics Program in the field of medicinal plants cultivation development and said that the cultivation of these plants, in addition to preserving medicinal species, will help generate income for farmers and land-users. 

Hojjati also said cultivation of plants should be prioritized based on geographical location and climatic conditions of different parts of the country.

He, referring to the recent drought and a lack of rainfall, said that the cultivation of drought resistant species, as well as medicinal plants, can increase the job opportunities for local communities.
The Minister of Agriculture Jahad emphasized the establishment of specialized cooperatives for developing of medicinal and organic plants through mobilizing IWM budget.
