Head of FRWO visit to Desertification Control Projects in Khorasan Razavi Province

Khalil Aghayee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) visited desertification control projects in Gonabad city in the southern region of Khorasan Razavi province.

According to FRWO’s website, since 2017, seedling operations have been implemented in 100 ha of the development zone of Gonabad.

This area is geographically located in a wind erosion hotspot which, seedling operations can play a significant role in controlling dust and sand storms.

The operation include rehabilitation and improvement of rangelands by seedling and seeding techniques, that in addition to improving the vegetation of rangelands, can play a significant role in controlling dust and sand storms and reduce the damages caused by storms and  increase runoff storage.
