Forest Health Inter-Agency Meeting on Buxus Hyrcana Held at FRWO

Khalil Aghayee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) described the box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis); as one of the natural disasters in the Hyrcanian forests, that has inflicted heavy damages to Buxus hyrcana trees in the north of Iran.

Khalil Aghayee, in a meeting with the presence of representatives of Department of Environment, Iran Plant Protection Organization, Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands, University of Tehran and FRWO provincial offices, on box tree moth control measures in the northern forest last Wednesday, said that it is necessary to use all capacities to control the disease based on the roadmap.  

Head of FRWO said that according to estimates, about 451 hectares of Hyrcanian forests are affected by Cydalima perspectalis pests, which necessitate immediate response by use of all national and international scientific capacities.
