Head of FRWO emphasize on IWM & Cadastre

Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) visited IWM projects in Hormozgan province.

In this visit, Khalil Aghaee, stated that watershed management projects have proved their efficiency to prevent damages incurred by floods in drought season and added that IWM is effective under any circumstances, even if we face with decrease of rainfall, we can manage water resources properly.

Aghaee stated that one of the most important FRWO’s duties is the implementation of the cadastre, that helps resolve the problems between the people and the forest organization in the country.

Deputy Minister of Jahad Agriculture, in another part of his remarks, commented on FRWO’s duties and added that we have two main tasks. The first task is to keep the Anfals specially natural resources lands for present and future generations and this is of paramount importance, and our second task is to expand vegetation cover, through capturing all potentials and capacities.

Head of FRWO noted that through lobbying with the Supreme Leader’s office, some 150 million dollars has been allocated for 2019 to facilitate the implementation of natural resources and watershed management projects in the country, which is more than the approved budget of FRWO in current year.

The use of the capacity of local people and communities in protecting Anfal and national lands, IWM implementation, recharge of underground aquifers, and development of rangelands and forests were the main issues highlighted in the meeting.
