FRWO Receive the International Day for Biological Diversity Award in 2019

On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, FRWO received the national award for Biological Diversity on May 22.

According to FRWO’s website, in this ceremony which was held at the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization headquarter (AREEO) in Tehran.

 The ceremony was opened with the presence of officials of MoJA, DoE and experts from specialized fields from research centers and universities, aimed to leverage knowledge and spread awareness of the dependency of our food systems, nutrition, and health on biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.

In this ceremony, Dr. Eskandar Zand, National Focal Point to CBD awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to Khalil Aghaee Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) for FRWO contribution to boidiversity.

It is worth noting that May 22 that coincides in Iran with the first day of Khordad, is observed nationally. In this connection, the Ministry of Jahad Agriculture is mandated as coordinating body based on a resolution by the Council of Ministers of Iran last year.
