FRWO Strongly Fight Against Land Grabbing

Head of FRWO pointing out that land grabbers are opportunist elements who use different tools, even through legal channels, to seize national resources, said we strongly fight against land grabbing and do not hesitate to protect natural resources.

According to FRWO’s website, Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO said on Sunday in a meeting with the director generals of natural resources in Zagros provinces, that the land grabbing has a specific definition, and therefore making any accusations against individuals should be based on clear legal evidence. He also emphasized the need for mobilizing the public participation in decision- making process before planning and executive phases, because any decision without public support and participation is doomed to failure.

Khalil Aghaee commenting on FRWO's performance in handling the problems in Zagros forests noted that the problems of Zagros forests are certainly different from the problems encountered in the Hyrcanian forests, of which the supply of water and preservation of soil moisture is considered of highest priority, due to its large geographic scale and dispersed forest areas. Therefore, IWM implementation in Zagros is one of the most important commitments of FRWO in 2019.

Aghaee also said that seven trillion RLs were allocated last year for IWM projects which has been doubled this year based on the memoranda signed with governor generals of provinces.
