MP Emphasizes the IWM Implementation

A representative of Piranshahr and Sardasht in the Parliament met and conferred with Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) on IWM Projects and natural resources management in his constituency.

 According to FRWO’s website, Head of FRWO said that people are the key partner in realizing the natural resources management and without their role and participation; it is not possible to conserve and develop natural resources, public participation is an integral part of FRWO's policies.

Referring to the meeting on Zagros ecosystem held last week in Ilam headed by the Minister of Jahad Agriculture with the presence of governors, senior national and provincial  managers of natural resources from eleven Zagros Provinces, Khalil Aghaee added that one of the important priorities of FRWO is to preserve and develop Zagros forests. In this regard, the Zagros Ecosystem Management Plan has been elaborated and would be implemented this year.

He also emphasized the implementation of land cadastre plan this year and said that FRWO aims to resolve the existing problems with people through cadastre maps. He also noted that after the implementation of cadastral plan, the boundary of state lands with private lands will be determined that help reduces conflicts with people.

The representative of Piranshahr and Sardasht in the Islamic Consultative Assembly expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of IWM projects in his constituency based on his recent visit, and stressed the effectiveness of IWM projects in conserving soil and water and improving livelihoods of local communities.

Rasoul Khezri reminded the importance of the Zagros forests ecosystem in the national economy and appreciated the efforts made by FRWO to substitute gas  and solar energy for fuel wood, particularly the implementation of Zagros Ecosystem Management Plan.
