Hyrcanian Forests' Inscription in UNESCO Provide a Huge Capacity for the Hyrcanian Forest Policy Reform
Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) said the inscription of the Hyrcanian forests of I. R. of Iran in the UNESCO World Heritage list is a unique opportunity for implementation of Iran's new Hyrcan forest policy reform introduced by the Government which bans wood logging from the Hyrcanian forests.
According to FRWO’s website, Head of FRWO in a working group meeting held in Mazandaran Wood and Paper Mill on removing barriers to production said the only solution for the revival and boom of the industries in the region is the sound implementation of wood importation and wood culture policies.
Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO reiterated that the reform plan is not a temporary one therefore the only way out for the wood industries in the region is to plan to utilize the wood importation and/or wood culture modalities.
He added every arrangement has been made for wood import and no restriction is imposed for importation of wood with bark. He also added that as for wood culture, Government has passed new regulations for the allocation of lands and banking facilities to private sector for wood culture.
