The Fifteenth Session of Working Group Meeting on IWM Held at FRWO
The fifteenth session of working group meeting on IWM was held in FRWO Headquarter on Saturday. The session reviewed the report on the physical progress of the IWM projects at national and provincial levels.
According to FRWO’s website, in this meeting, Mr. Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO), pointing out that sustainable development depends on public acceptance and people’s effective participation in the planning and implementation of natural resource projects said that the share of people's participation in the projects should be determined quantitatively.
He noted that the role and participation of people should be calculated in terms of facts and figures in the projects, and called the working group for the monitoring the progress of IWM plans to show the exact percentage of public participation in realization of biological and biomechanical operations in the provinces.
Aghaee said that main role for active involvement of people in the implementation of natural resource projects is on the shoulder of the Training, Extension & Public Participation Bureau of FRWO, and asked the bureau to introduce the pioneer watersheds in terms of public participation at working group meetings.
In another part of his remarks, the Head of FRWO stressed the need for precise planning for the initiation of biological operation, and ordered the natural resources departments in the provinces to determine the amount of seeds needed for biological operation.
