IRIB's Provincial Network Facilitate Service to Natural Resources' Awareness Raising

In a meeting at FRWO Headquarters, Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) and Dr. Ali Darabi, Deputy of IRIB reiterated the use of IRIB's provincial network for promoting the natural resources' culture among people.

According to FRWO’s website, Mr. Khalil Aghaee Head of FRWO referring briefly to FRWO's plans and programmes in natural resources sector, highlighted the role of media in mobilizing people's participation in natural resources projects. He reiterated that promotion of a culture that respects natural resources requires the all-out involvement of media at grass root level. Mr. Khalil Aghaee concluded that IWM projects, Hycannian forest management and Zagros forest conservation plans are three pivotal areas of work at FRWO that IRIB can promote the involvement of local communities in the implementation phase through information dissemination, awareness raising, and advocacy.

Dr. Ali Darabi, Deputy of IRIB said one of the mandates of IRIB is to give support to public issues that affects the general public such as natural resources role in building a healthy society. Nowadays, the importance and life-giving essence of natural resources is crystal clear and IRIB can play a role. One of the mechanisms that IRIB can help in this area is to facilitate the production of content with the theme of natural resources for attending the animation, and music festivals. He also gave a short report of the provincial and foreign networks that can be tapped for awareness raising in the field of natural resources, and reiterated that FRWO's active participation in IRIB provincial festivals can boost the production of radio and TV programmes in this area. He also invited the Head of FRWO to attend the IRIB joint regional meetings as a mechanism for future collaborations and exchanges.
