Judiciary Fight against Land Grabbing in Natural Resources Sector
Judiciary Chief, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi in the Supreme Judicial Council meeting on Monday referring to the issue of land grabbing in natural resources sector said: “I had been looking into a number of land grabbing cases in person and sent several inspection groups in this regard to Tehran and other provinces for further investigations.”
Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said that in all of these cases, there is a clear trace of power and wealth oligarchy, and their influences. They usually establish unhealthy relationships with legal institutions such as city and village councils, municipalities and municipality commissions responsible for protecting national lands and natural resources, to receive licenses for land use change and eventually land occupation. All of these cases are being referred to courts for accurate and immediate investigation.
Head of the Judiciary said: "ministers, parliamentarians and government officials have a duty to react to corruption cases and report it to the Judiciary as soon as they realized them, either before of their terms of office or after it.
He added that the revealing corruption is not promising and enough for people; they need a decisive action against corruption. In other words, people can see the result of actions is leading to the elimination of corruption and improvement of structures that prevent the occurrence of corruption.
