Tehran Municipality and FRWO to Expand Cooperation on IWM

Khalil Aghaee, Head of FRWO met and conferred with Tehran’s Mayor Pirouz Hanachi on Tuesday evening about management and development of Tehran forest parks, according to FRWO’s website.

In this meeting, Aghaee emphasizing the need for boosting physical and recreational capacities in forest parks, said: “Forest park is a controlled place for recreation and relaxation in the nature that can offer optimum services and safety to visitors, reduce the pressure of tourist load on natural forests, and eventually minimize degradation factors, especially fires, in a controlled manner. 

Head of FRWO in another part of his remarks highlighted the importance of IWM projects and said: “The expansion of vegetation cover within IWM concept is the best approach in controlling floods in Tehran.”

He also referred to the importance of cultural development in the field of natural resources management and the conservation of forests and rangelands, and requested the Tehran municipality to use their facilities in order to boost public awareness.

Aghaee at the end of his remarks appreciated Tehran Municipality for their effective assistance in fire fighting in the natural resources areas around Tehran.

Dr. Pirouz Hanachi, Mayor of Tehran, thanked Aghaee for his positive gesture and FRWO's collaboration in developing green spaces in Tehran. He referred to the problems arising from urban life in Tehran metropolitan, especially congestion and high population density as well as air pollution, and pointed out to the vital role of forests and forest park play in the welfare of citizens.
