FRWO and MSY determined to forge a Joint Initiative

Jamshid Taghizadeh, Deputy of Legal, Parliamentary and Provincial Affairs of Ministry of Sport and Youth (MSY) met and conferred with Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) on the role of natural resources in a healthy society on Saturday.

He said: "Social health is the common goal of both MSY and FRWO and national athletes and celebrities can play a vital role as the green ambassadors for nature conservation.

According to FRWO’s website, in this meeting, Mr.Jamshid Taghizadeh , referring to the importance of conservation of natural resources as the bed of life for communities, said : “All classes of society, men and women, young and old including athletes, are duty bound to make sound use of this god-given blessing and protect it.”

Taghizadeh emphasized: “Natural areas such as forests, mountains, plains and natural water bodies including lakes and seas are ideal places that can promote many sports activities. Therefore, athletes with their millions of supporters can contribute to vitality and conservation of this precious and national capital.”

He noted that enhancing the public awareness and advocacy are part and parcel of natural resources preservation and in this connection suggested that MSY and FRWO form the so-called ‘green ambassadors’ as a joint initiative with the participation of athletes and celebrities for nature conservation 

During the meeting, Mr. Khalil Aghaei, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO, welcomed the initiative of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and called for wide scale mobilization of social capital for natural resources conservation through green ambassadors’ initiative, and said that the elites and athletes can play a significant and effective role in the preservation of forests, rangelands and natural resources by promoting a culture that respects nature and the environment

 According to this report, it was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding is signed between MSY and FRWO to increase the collaborations in this regard in the near future.
