Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) in the 19th session of coordination committee for IWM implementation on Saturday referring to special attention of the Supreme Leader, the government and the Parliament to natural resources issues, said that these backings for the preservation of natural resources by the high-ranking officials has made our responsibility in this sphere more crucial.

According to FRWO’s website, in this meeting, Mr. Aghaee recalled the remarks of the Supreme Leader delivered at a gathering with the high-ranking officials on 2nd April, on the occasion of National Day of Nature about the vital role of nature management and IWM concept in realizing sustainable development and added that we owe all our achievements in FRWO to this farsightedness and high mentality toward natural resources.

Head of FRWO noted that the increased attention to natural resource issue by authorities put our performance under focus, and emphasized that we should not sacrifice quality in natural resources projects.

Mr. Aghaee described the integrity of the interventions as the key to success in project implementation and concluded that all the sectors in nature including desert, forest, rangeland and watershed, are interrelated to each other and therefore must be managed in an integrated manner.

Mr Aghaee also noted that criticism to performance of individuals for the sake of saving nature is allowed, because brainstorming helps us gain rationality and integrated solutions to interact with other sectors.

He concluded that local communities, NGOs, ranchers, pastoralists and foresters are the main stakeholders and target groups in natural resource management, and FRWO needs to provide a platform for further interaction and collaboration among them.
