FRWO to Mobilize All Capacities to Implement IWM

Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) in the 23^rd session of coordination committee for IWM implementation on Saturday stated that IWM goals are realized by boosting vegetation cover, said: “All measures have been taken in terms of mechanical operations to maximize the harvest of rainfall in autumn by Natural Resources and Watershed Management Departments (NRWDs) in provinces in order to support the initiation of  biological activities IWM project sites in October.”

According to FRWO’s website, Aghaee in this meeting said that the principal reason for IWM interventions that is globally accepted, is to conserve soil and vegetation cover.

Aghaee said: studies show that the implementation of IWM projects decease flood damages to a bare minimum.

He pointed out that today we should focus all our efforts on the physical implementation of natural resources projects and announced that more than 1000 IWM projects have been implemented throughout the country since the beginning of the Iranian calendar, from which a good number of them are put into operation in the Government Week and the remaining would be completed in the coming months.

‏Head of FRWO called the common sense and rationality, the key to success in natural resources management, and urged FRWO to use all capacities to advance natural resource goals, especially the views and experiences of local communities.
