FRWO to Put all Efforts into Saving the Hycanian Forests
Head of FRWO said that FRWO puts all efforts into saving Hycanian forests.
According to FRWO’s website, Mr. Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) in the thirteenth session of Sustainable Management of Hycanian Forest Working Group held on Wednesday, noted that the Caspian forests have a special place for the public due to their vital functions and unique attractions, therefore any mistake in management process does not get out of experts' sight.
Reminding the vast expanse of forest areas and FRWO’s limited facilities, He called for prompt action by the training bureaus of NRWDs in the northern provinces to explain the objectives and benefits of forest alternative plan to the local people, especially local councils and village officers in order to enhance the conservation of Hyrcanian forests.
Aghaee said that the forest alternative plan should be attractive to stakeholders because some of them would still like to harvest wood from the forests. The prospect of the plan should be planned in such a way that people are aware of their economic and social benefits.
He described the FRWO’s mission both very difficult and important at the same time due to many variables active in natural resources management, and said: “FRWO is not only obliged to conserve natural resources for present generation, but also have to look them after for the coming generations.”
He urged the High Council of FRWO and NRDWs in the northern provinces to contact with the scientific and research centers, and natural resources faculties to raise the issue of forest alternative plan, and to examine the pros and cons and come up with a consolidated management plan for implementation phase.
