Cross Sectoral Coordination Mechanism Guarantees IWM Implementation
The 25th session of coordination committee for IWM implementation was held at FRWO Headquarters on Saturday for reviewing the achievements of Ilam and Hormozgan NRWM departments.
Khalil Aghaee, Deputy Minister and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) in this meeting urged that necessary coordination should be made among local natural resources offices with governorates, local councils and village offices in order to establish a solid platform for effective implementation of IWM projects in provinces throughout the country.”
According to FRWO’s website, Aghaee in this meeting highlighting the vital benefits of IWM projects summarized the main functions of IWM as control of soil erosion, control of floods and aquifers recharge that eventually lead to improving the vegetation cover.
Aghaee referred to the limitation of plantation season this year and urged that every collaboration should be made with the contractors in term of their contracts and prompt provision of seeds and seedlings in such a war that they can start the plantation operation with the first autumn rainfall.
He praised the achievements of Ilam and Hormozgan NRWM departments for plantation of 3300 hectares of project's lands despite of dry climatic conditions and introduced them as a good model to other provinces.
