FRWO and AREEO Determined to Boost Cooperation

Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi Acting Head of FRWO met with Dr. Khavazi Deputy Minister and Head of Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization to exchange views on modalities for enhanced scientific cooperation.

According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi Acting Head of FRWO in a meeting last Tuesday with Dr. Khavazi Deputy Minister and Head of Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization called for enhanced scientific cooperation and said that FRWO need the know-how and scientific solutions for advancing the goals of natural resources management. 

Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi reiterated that research, execution and extension are three pillars for attaining sustainable development and their collaboration can lead to the better management of natural resources.

Shahbazi highlighted the role of the Hyrcanian forests from different aspects and added forest cover is an important indicator in developing countries for attaining sustainable development therefore, FRWO gives a deserving place to conservation, rehabilitation and development of all types of forests especially in the Hyrcanian forests. 

Acting Head of FRWO mentioned IWM as an ultimate solution in controlling land degradation and expansion of vegetation cover and said IWM projects has contributed to the revival of traditional Qanat system in natural resources management that shows the importance of synergy between modern sciences and traditional knowledge. He also referred to the boxwood decline in the Hyrcanian forests and called for more joint collaboration in this regard.

Dr. Khavazi Deputy Minister and Head of Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization also thanked Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi for the positive gesture and expressed his satisfaction over this meeting while announced AREEO readiness for continued cooperation with FRWO in all relevant fields especially in combating boxwood decline.

At the end of the meeting, Khavazi called for continuation of such meetings for development of joint program on scientific and research coopration.
