Wood Farming Development on the Agenda of FRWO
Acting Head of FRWO said that forests are unique and very valuable from different aspects in Iran; therefore, every measure should be taken to conserve them in a sustainable manner especially wood farming development.
According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi in the fourth session of wood farming development committee which was held with the presence of committee members in FRWO Headquarters on Sunday, called for maximum people's participation in wood farming and said that the executive projects can be formulated in the framework of Para B of Article 29 of the Sixth National Development Plan.
In this meeting, Dr. Shahbazi also called for more cooperation with Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands (RIFR) in the field of wood farming technology in order to produce high-yield and fast-growing species that can be viable for producers.
Referring to the tradition of poplar plantation in the Caspian provinces from the very past in the region that can be useful for forest development and prevention of forest degradation, he called for establishment of a regional poplar committee in the Caspian region to oversee the whole operation and change the current logging paradigm to conservation and wood production through plantation.
