The Seventeenth Session of Zagros Forest Management Working Group Held in FRWO

According to FRWO’s website, the seventeenth session of Zagros forest management working group, chaired by Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi, Acting Head of FRWO was held at FRWO Headquarters on Wednesday with the agenda of development of medicinal herbs, enhanced role of women in forest restoration in Zagros, green belts development, creation of job opportunity in natural resources sector for rural communities pursuant to the Supreme Leader’s meeting with entrepreneurs. 

Dr.Shahbazi referring to the vital ecosystem functions of Zagros forests said that lack of fuel supply and application of renewable energy in villages near forests is the main reason behind local people's aggression to natural resources and called for provision of solar heaters/cookers to villages in Zagros, payment of financial assistance to deprived villages that have not received fossil fuel in the past 5 years, as well as appraisal of degradations in the Zagros.
