Wood Farming Development; Key to Forest Conservation
Acting Head of FRWO said that wood farming development is one of the key FRWO’s programs in preserving natural forests.
According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi said in the technical meeting on wood farming development held at Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands (RIFR) on Sunday that wood farming development can meet the cellulose needs of the country as an effective alternative to minimize the impacts of logging ban initiative, and in this connection, RIFR as a knowledge hub, can contribute to the successful implementation of the plan.
Having said that FRWOHaving said that FRWO is following up the allocation of low interest banking facilities to farmers in the framework of Note18 of Para A, Dr. Shahbazi added "we are consulting with the banking system to include wood farming as a forest business for benefiting from rural and nomadic employment fund".
He also announced that FRWO has planned to develop15 000 hectares of wood farming orchards irrigated by unconventional water and the Ministry of Energy is also mandated to supply additional water resources needed for wood farming development in the country
