FRWO Officially Launched the National Tree-Planting Movement

Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi Acting Head of FRWO said 14 million seedlings will be planted nationally in the tree-planting movement aimed at greener homeland as of Thursday 5^th December 2019.

According to FRWO’s website quoting from Fars News Agency, Dr. Shahbazi said in a press conference held at FRWO Headquarters that tree-planting movement starts with the theme of "General Tree-Planting Movement for Greener Homeland" as of Thursday 5^th December 2019 and is scheduled to plant 14 million seedlings throughout the country.

He added that the movement is scheduled to continue up to the end of Iranian year and is expected to reach to a record plantation of 34 million seedlings in the next phase with a budget of 100 million Euros jointly co financed by FRWO and National Development Fund.

Acting Head of FRWO with reference to the paramount role of afforestation in Iran said that with the current trend of climatic changes in the world, development of forest cover is essential and undeniable. Within the last 150 years, concentration of carbon dioxide has increased by 30 % in the atmosphere. The phenomenon is exacerbated as the result of deforestation and forest degradation, leading to the further rise of temperature globally.

Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi reiterated that FRWO is alert to destruction of natural resources and fight back any illegal activity under the pretext of development of infrastructures.
