Head of FRWO Appreciated Public Participation in Tree Planting Movement

According to FRWO’s website, the 35^th session of coordination committee for IWM implementation chaired by Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi, Acting Head of FRWO was held at FRWO Headquarters on Saturday with the agenda of review on General Tree-Planting Movement for Greener Homeland.

In this meeting, Dr. Shahbazi with reference to the wide participation of all stakeholders in Tree-Planting Movement on December 5, praised the role and participation of people in the movement and thanked all the executive organizations, Basij and police forces and NGOs, that accompanied FRWO in this event”.

Dr. Shahbazi said we have to address climate change in our long term programs including aligning with new pattern of precipitations in the country for plantation. Therefore the new annual tree- planting initiative from 5^th December 2019 this year is a response to this urgency based on recommendations of science and research bodies.

He concluded that based on provisions of the Sixth National Development plan, FRWO is mandated to plant about 813 thousands hectares of new plantations that will be carried out within tree- planting initiative.
