Everyone Must assume Responsibility Towards Natural Resources

Acting Minister of Agriculture Jihad announced that all the Ministry's departments are responsible to support natural resources.

According to FRWO’s website, Eng. Abbas Keshavarz, Acting Minister of Agriculture Jahad, at the national congress of the Ministry on Tuesday said that all the Ministry's departments should be concerned about the threats in natural resources management including degradation of natural resources and deforestation, soil erosion and water loss in the country.

Having stressed the need for preservation and conservation of forests and natural resources, Eng. Keshavarz said the Ministry should promote co- management system and public participation instead of confrontation with people. He added that the social factors in natural resources preservation should be taken seriously.

"The capacity of civil society organizations and NGOs should be captured in a programmatic manner; the Forest Conservation Plan should be pursued precisely and no one passes the red lines of the Plan," Acting Minister of Agriculture urged.

Keshavarz reiterated that erosion in watershed catchments should be managed through participatory mechanisms with the participation of volunteers and natural resource activists within IWM and conservation modality.

He stressed that the Ministry have to ensure land use and land ownership rights of both landholders and government based on law through amicable methods.
