Tree-Planting Campaign Continues up to March
Acting Head of FRWO said that the General Tree-Planting Movement for Greener Homeland initiated on 5th December 2019 this year will continue up to the end of Iranian calendar in March.
According to FRWO’s website, the 36th session of coordination committee for IWM implementation chaired by Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi, Acting Head of FRWO was held at FRWO Headquarters on Saturday. In this meeting, Dr. Shahbazi stressed the need for strengthening the resilience of forests against degradation factors and deforestation; and added that we have to focus on forest development parallel to conservation operation.
“People participate actively in the green space development activities and their participation in the recent tree- planting campaign is a vivid sign of their commitment to the cause of forestry.” he stressed.
He urged that FRWO should be sensitive to any illegal activities especially logging, and take the necessary legal action.“FRWO is facing with the most serious challenges in the field of forest protection; therefore, we need to introduce new and world-class technologies to protect our forests and control.” Acting Head of FRWO reiterated.
Dr. Shahbazi pointed to the recent remarks of Eng. Keshavarz, Acting Minister of Agriculture, at the national congress of the Ministry and reiterated that top priority of the Ministry is to preserve natural resources and forests.
He urged that FRWO should deal with land use and ownership rights of landholders and reduce disparities through amicable methods.
