FRWO to Continue IWM Implementation
Acting Head of FRWO emphasizing the policy of FRWO for implementation of uncompleted watershed projects said that IWM serves as a framework for management of natural resources.
According to FRWO’s website, the 37th session of coordination committee for IWM implementation chaired by Khosrow Shahbazi, Acting Head of FRWO was held at FRWO Headquarters on Saturday with the agenda of biological operations in forests and rangelands.
In this meeting, Dr. Shahbazi noted that implementation of IWM projects is underway unabatedly in the provinces and biological operations in forests and rangelands will be started in the next 10 days.
He assessed the recent tree-planting campaign as an innovative and positive step in the natural resource sector and added that the campaign will continue with the cooperation and participation of the people next year.
In this connection, he urged forestry department to supervise nurseries and make plan for increase of their production capacity and produce 120 million of seedlings annually.
Acting Head of FRWO described the implementation of Para B of Article 29 of the Sixth National Development Plan a innovative new capacity for involving local communities in natural resources management and noted that under this plan, the cost of implementing natural resource projects will be reduced by half.
