Revision in Buxus Rescue Plan

Acting Head of FRWO said that Gilan province is a centre of wood farming in the country. Therefore it is necessary to replace wood farming for wood importation that may carry new pests and diseases into the forests.

According to FRWO’s website at the meeting of the Council meeting of Guilan's Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department, Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi Acting Head of FRWO stated: “One of the main objectives of FRWO is to preserve, restore and develop forests, and in this regard, the Supreme Leader and the President, and the Parliament put special emphasis on IWM, and conservation of vegetation cover and sustainable development.”

He added: IWM is an applied discipline for management and sustainable utilization of bio-resources. Watershed management controls flash-flood, soil erosion and water loss and thereby reduces risks and damages incurred to people and infrastructures.

He noted that the Supreme Leader firmly maintains that IWM approach contribute to the development of vegetation cover which is also supported by scientific evidences. Therefore, upon the order of the Supreme Leader some Euros 150 m has been allocated from the National Development Fund to IWM projects in line with development of forests and green spaces this year.
