Research Projects Promote Sustainable Development in Natural Resources

Acting Head of FRWO in a meeting with Head of Technology Development Council for Water, Drought, Erosion and Environment Affairs (TDC) - Deputy of Vice-President for Science and Technology said that technology and research projects should serve the purpose of sustainable development and help preserve and restore natural resources in the country.

According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi told Dr. Ebrahimi that the technological research projects piloted in this area should be designed and implemented in such a way that could be replicated in a wide range of natural resources arena.

He reiterated that FRWO’s policy is to collaborate and interact with science and research centers, and academia, and despite the budget constraints, it uses its existing facilities to carry out research projects.

Referring to the huge extent of natural resources in the country, he added that the replication of pilot projects for local communities should be cost effective and boost their livelihood and incomes.

In this meeting, Dr. Ebrahimi presented a short report about the research projects so far carried out by TDC including recharging rivers by watershed management technique, development of new mulches dune fixation, construction of biological and no-biological windbreaks, as well as runoff harvest technique to fix dust prone hotspots.

‏According to FRWO’s website, the two sides vowed to forge an alliance for broader partnership between FRWO and TDC in technological fields.
