IWM Projects Have stored Five Million Cubic Meters of Water in Sistan & Baluchistan

According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Khosro Shahbazi in response to the question about the damages of recent flood to water facilities in Sistan & Baluchestan said: “We had a meeting with the Directors of Agriculture Department and Natural Resources and Watershed Department in the province based on the visit to the flood-stricken areas in Dashtiari, Plan and Orki". He added "the facilities in the in the flood-stricken areas of Dashtiari, Plan and Orki have not received much damages however, we have to continue the assessment of damages in other areas to have an overall estimation. He reiterated that all water facilities and structures have insurance coverage against damages that can compensate for the financial consequences.

He pointed out that about 130,000 hectares of lands in Chabahar are degraded by landslides and gully erosion of which 20 hectares were destroyed before the occurrence of flash flood.

Dr. Shahbazi noted the study phase of 130,000 hectares of land affected by landslides due to flood incidence needs a budget of 6000 billion RLs in Chahbahar area.
