Karaj Nursery Complex Has the Capacity to Provide Seedlings to other Provinces
Dr. Khosrow Shahbazi Acting Head of FRWO in a visit to Alborz province said: "Karaj nursery complex has a high production capacity that can provide seedlings to other provinces".
According to FRWO's website, Dr. Shahbazi who visited the Karaj nursery complex in Alborz province on Thursday, February 27, 2020 emphasized the need to put into operation the full capacity of the nursery.
He referred to the development operation carried out in the nursery in recent years to add to the production capacity and said that there are still a high potential for expansion of facilities to add to seedling production capacity in the country.
He noted that another advantage of such nursery complex is the production of the best quality medicinal plants (herbs) that can be replicated as a good model in other provinces.
Acting Head of FRWO added that the complex with an area of 136 hectares of green space can also contribute to air quality in Karaj metropolitan parallel to its huge seedling production capacity.
Dr. Shahbazi also emphasized the quality of seedlings produced in the nursery and reminded that the policy and priority of FRWO is to produce resistant seedlings that can adapt to the local conditions.
Karaj Nursery Complex located on Mohammadshahr Road is the sole nursery in the country with international grade and standard that produces more than two million seedlings annually and exports parts of its products to other provinces.
It should be noted that in case of special attention of the provincial authorities and allocation of budget within a development plan, the production capacity of the nursery could reach to up to ten million seedlings per year.
On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Shahbazi also met with Dr. Shahmoradi, Deputy Director of Economic Affairs at the Alborz Governorate.
In this meeting, Dr. Shahmoradi praised the performance of FRWO and the Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of Alborz province for implementation of IWM projects in the province from the National Development Fund that have played a vital role in minimizing the damages of recent flood in the province.
Dr. Shahbazi also appreciated the support provided by the Governorate of Alborz to the Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management that further encourages the continuation of FRWO activities in future.
