Acting Head of FRWO Meet with Members of Extension & Public Participation Bureau
According to FRWO's website, Dr. Mansour in this meeting said: "Targeted training and advocacy is very important for natural resources management."
He said that lack of integration and targeted work hinders us to achieve to satisfactory results and outcomes, and noted: "We need to focus on a few important and priority tasks at FRWO in order to get to better results.
Dr. Mansour noted: "FRWO has so far signed 21 Memorandum of Understandings to further consolidate cross sectoral coordination among line agencies. However, some of them need to be reviewed, amended or even merged in order to become operational."
He also stressed the need for continuous and thematic training workshops with the use of new technologies.
Acting Head of FRWO reiterated the need to use the capacity of all social classes and institutions especially students' associations in natural resources management.
Dr. Mansour said that FRWO need to forge new arrangements through relevant associations to resolve the issues with regard to grazing license and collection of fees. He also called for the proper implementation and elimination of ambiguities in paragraph "b of Article 29" with the cooperation of responsible bureaus.
Referring to the background and mission of the Green Movement, Dr. Mansour highlighted the need to revise the mandate and structure of GM especially in the provinces for more effective exchanges and contacts with local officials in the provinces.
Acting Head of FRWO also referred to the role of volunteers in safeguarding natural resources and called on the Forest Guard to prepare a draft plan for contracting volunteers in conservation projects.
He also called for the establishment of a "Best Practices Website" as a vehicle to promote; share and document best practices and show case the achievements of FRWO.
