FRWO to Revive Legal Authority in Natural Resources Protection

Acting Head of FRWO said "FRWO would control all corridors in forests and rangelands to fight back illegal trafficking by deploying check points and forest guard units and fastening preventive measures in hotspots."

According to FRWO's website, Dr. Masoud Mansour who was presiding over the Natural Resources Protection committee meeting on Saturday said that in the new protection plan, Forest Guard units would be deployed in nature based on three urgency levels including critical, semi-critical and normal categories in order to protect the natural resources."

Dr. Mansour said: "In this plan, full support to Forest Guard units including personal equipments, monitoring system, GPS, fire prevention equipments are made to ensure optimum response to emergenies such as wild land fires and trafficking.

He added: "From June, training classes will be held for Forest Guard units to enhance their readiness for future operations in natural resources."

Dr. Mansour also noted that the selection of forest guard forces will be based on personal qualifications and skills they acquire during their trainings.‏

Acting Head of FRWO urged the need to finalize the guidelines on preventive, logistical, and financial measures for final approval.
