The Supreme Leader Emphasized IWM and Medicinal Herbs Development among the Priories for Leap in Production

The Supreme Leader noted the implementation of IWM projects and development of medicinal plants fundamental to achieving the leap in production.

On the occasion of International Workers' Day or "Labor Day", Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic in a video conference with seven leading manufacturing complexes in different parts of the country on Wednesday hailed the vital role of laborers and elaborated the reciprocal duties of laborers and employers in quantitative and qualitative rise of production, production of wealth in a healthy economy with reference to the theme of the year and the requirements for its realization.   

The Supreme Leader pointed out the priority areas that should be spearheaded in the leap in production, and said that agricultural projects and the production of and self-sufficiency in basic commodities such as wheat, oilseeds, medicinal herbs and aquatic products using modern irrigation methods and watershed management are the areas that should be given special attention in the leap in production year.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the skilled and innovative worker improves the quality of production and noted: "Therefore, the firms and employers in turn should increase the share of workforce and laborers in the economic gain and revenues of the enterprise so that to encourage their sense of responsibility and precision in production process."

He described the laborers and employers two main pillars of the economic growth and called for fair regulations based on viewpoints of laborers.

The Supreme Leader reiterated the payment of fair and timely wages, job security, insurance, welfare and health services to workforce and said constant trainings in the technology era is a prerequisite for productivity and economic viability.

Referring to the impact of workers in the political developments of the last two centuries, the Supreme Leader exalted the prominent role of workers in the victory of the Islamic Revolution, holy defense and various events and added: The workers have been in the spearhead of the revolution and in permanent bond with the Islamic Republic, but this deep bond increases the responsibilities of officials in all executive, judiciary and legislative systems to resolve workers' basic problems.

Ayatollah Khamenei compared domestic production with the immune system of the human body and added, “These days, we are dealing with the issue of the Corona virus. The role of the immune system of the body in confronting viruses, bacteria and invasive microbes is a very important role. Undoubtedly, the Corona virus has entered many bodies, but not all of them have become sick. Why? Because they had a very good, healthy immune system which managed to resist and ensure the safety of the body. Similarly, if we liken the economy of the country to the human body, the defense and security system of the economy is production. In other words, the thing that can repel the viruses and microbes invading the economy and keep it safe is domestic production.”

Emphasizing that production is the main factor in the formation of a national and strong economy, he added: "In addition to being vital for the country's economy, production also has a great political, social and cultural impact on the ability of a nation to produce its basic needs." It will give that nation confidence and self-esteem, and will pave the way for the general welfare of society, increase gross national product, and increase exports and the cultural impact of the export of domestic goods to other countries.

The Supreme Leader called the current trend of production in the country insufficient to compensate for the backwardness and stressed the need to further develop and strengthen production, and spoke about the leap in production and ways to achieve it in the current situation.

Ayatollah Khamenei mentioned that one of the important issues for the realization of the leap in production is the participation of the people in the economy through the use of various talents and capacities of the people and reiterated in this regard, three powers have important tasks, and if these tasks are not performed, there will be no leap in production.

He said that supporting production and producers is the main task of the officials and emphasized that supporting production does not only mean injecting liquidity, but also removing obstacles to open the field for investors, thinkers and producers.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to some examples of removing obstacles and said: eliminating cumbersome regulations, serious fight against smuggling, combating uncontrolled imports, fighting corruption and corruption, respecting intellectual property rights, combating speculation and speculation. Harmful, and tax exemptions in cases of necessity, and the imposition of taxes in cases of necessity, such as windfall wealth, are among the essential things that three powers must take care of.

In pointing to the recent achievement of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in launching the Nour Satellite into space, His Eminence stated, “Unfortunately, some people in the country constantly say that it’s impossible and that we can’t; however, we are perfectly capable. The reason for this is that when we are capable of launching a satellite into space with a speed of 7,500 m/s, can successfully put the satellite in orbit and can make great progress in the area of defense industries, we are equally capable of achieving a surge in production.”

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to some areas that need to be prioritized in the leap in production year and said that the development of refinery capacity, such as the construction of a condensate refinery in Bandar Abbas and the Siraf refinery complex, the implementation of petrochemical projects will increase productivity. Agricultural projects will focus on the production of basic crops such as wheat, oilseeds, medicinal and aquatic plants, and self-sufficiency in these areas using modern irrigation methods and IWM, focusing on infrastructure, especially rail transport, with particular attention to segmentation and concentration. He said that another part of the issue that needs to be addressed is the drug and vaccine sector, adding that good research has been done in the country on the production of drugs and vaccines to fight the corona virus. The Supreme Leader called the chain of clothing, shoes and home appliances one of the most important and rooted capacities of the country and said: in order to achieve the leap of production, this chain should be seriously focused and the import of these products should be prevented.
