Development of Environment and Natural Resources Should become the Main National Demands
Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO said that the issue of environment and natural resources has vital importance and should be one of the main demands of the people.
According to FRWO's website, Dr. Massoud Mansour in a meeting with representatives of NGOs and CBOs on Tuesday said: "Fortunately, the conservation of natural resources is being emphasized by the Supreme Leader nowadays especially forests and rangelands and the public assets (Anfal)."
Addressing the representatives of NGOs, Dr. Mansour reiterated: "Today, if we take measures to revive, develop and protect natural resources in FRWO, it is our duty based on administrative structure and law. However, NGOs and volunteer groups do their best voluntarily to save the nature without expecting any material reward, which is an honor for us in FRWO to support their endeavor."
Dr. Mansour expressed his satisfaction over meeting the representatives of NGOs and CBOs and reminded that the meetings will be continued like the meetings with academic communities, members of the media and scientific and research centers in a fixed and continuous manner and the results of each meeting will be followed in the next meeting.
Mansour further announced the compilation of one-year action plan of FRWO in the coming weeks and said: "This document is comprised of four strategic priorities as well as the 9 initiatives of FRWO in 2020 with a special place for NGOs' participation."
Head of FRWO referred to paragraph B of Article 29 of the Sixth development Plan and noted: "The directive has provided a platform for participation of local cooperatives, organizations, and communities in natural resources projects."
Mansour emphasized: "In watershed area, mechanical operations are costly and are complemented by biological and biomechanical measures."
He noted that IWM measures in many cases have reduced flood damage and prevented soil erosion and sedimentation.
