Statement of Head of FRWO on the Occasion of Environment Day
Head of FRWO in a statement commemorating World Environment Day noted the environmental protection a public duty and stressed the need to preserve the principles of sustainable development.
Dr. Massoud Mansour's message is as follows:
In the Name of God
The study of Holy Qur'an and Islamic texts proves that the religion of Islam has always attached great importance to the environment as a principal vehicle for human life and development, and has emphasized a peaceful coexistence with and conservation of the environment.
The goal to have a healthy environment free from any pollution and contamination for human lives and other living beings requires a serious determination for preserving, conserving and wisely exploiting the natural resources, which is the public duty of both people and officials.
In a historic move, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights has concluded living in a pollution-free world and healthy environment is a basic human right and thus proclaimed 5th June (Khordad 16) the World Environment Day to promote public awareness of international efforts in the field of environment and a start for a paradigm shift.
He finally congratulated World Environment Day proclaimed by the United Nations Environment Program with the theme of, "Celebrate Biodiversity" “With 1 million species facing
extinction, there has never been a
more important time to focus on
biodiversity.” this year to environmental activists, environmentalists and non-governmental organizations across the country, especially the Department of Environment.
