FRWO and Basij Resistance Center of Agriculture Ministry Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

FRWO and Basij Resistance Center of Agriculture Jahad Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding to preserve and revive the country's natural resources through participatory mechanism. 

According to FRWO's website, the memorandum aims to preserve and revive the natural resources and help achieve ecological conservation of invaluable natural resources of the country.

The memorandum covers a wide range of participatory activities including implementation of educational-extension and cultural projects for local communities in the field of natural resources management, conservation of forests and rangelands, reforestation, rehabilitation of rangelands and dry lands, within IWM approach as well as measures related to maintaining the ecological safety and physical protection of natural resources.

Head of FRWO said at the signing ceremony "we need a common understanding, where the cultural issues become one of the central priorities of Basij." He reiterated that we should seek to expand Basij culture and jihadi management model in order to achieve a vibrant religious atmosphere that provide a thriving environment.

He noted that "We are in the year of "Leap in Production", and FRWO has targeted nine pivotal initiatives in 2020."

Head of FRWO said that cadastral mapping of national lands, development of wood farming and cultivation of medicinal herbs are other areas where Basij can play a vital role.

He noted that wood farming should be developed in the country to prevent deforestation and wood smuggling.

Mansour concluded that rangeland management projects are not merely for production of animal feed, but to help reduce pressure on rangelands carrying capacity and improve the rural economy in an integrated and multifunctional manner.
