FRWO and BSO Join Forces to Empower Local Communities

Heads of FRWO and Basij-e-Sazandegi Organization/ BSO in a joint meeting that was held virtually on Monday, exchanged views on modality of cooperation between FRWO and BSO in natural resources as well as the use of BSO’s capacity in the field of conservation and restoration activities.

According to FRWO’s website, Dr. Massoud Mansour said that the preservation and development of natural resources as a national asset is not possible without full participation of people and noted: “BSO is in fact the symbol of people's mobilization, which is made up of revolutionary and committed people.”

He reiterated: "Basij-e-Sazandegi Organization/ BSO is a community based organization that the vital role and participation of people is prominent."

Mansour concluded that: "based on law FRWO is mandated to contract civil society for services such as surveillance of natural resources, firefighting activities, prevention of illegal logging and smuggling of wood and non-wood forest and range products without tender formalities."

In this meeting, Colonel Mohammad Zahraei, Head of BSO referring to the organizational capacity said: “BSO is a non-profit organization with huge volunteer forces and capacities, that is committed to natural resources and welfare of people".

He pointed out to the700 BSO’s volunteer groups and noted: "BSO’s force has a lot of expertise and experiences in the field of medicinal herbscultivation, biological control of forest pests and management of forest parks. In addition, BSO has extensive background in the field of desertification control and construction of windbreaks in dry lands."
