Implementation of IWM Projects in 280,000 Ha in 11 Flood-Stricken Provinces

Head of FRWO said that in the last 4 months, FRWO has implemented watershed management and aquifer recharge projects in 280,000 hectares in 11 flooded-stricken provinces of the country, with the budget of 2,640 billion RLs.

According to FRWO’s website, quoted from Iranian Agriculture News Agency (IANA), Massoud Mansour, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO in a national gathering with Director Generals of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Departments (NRWDs), which was held online, launched the start of afforestation operation in three phases of plantation, timber farming and forest protection, simultaneously.

He emphasized FRWO’s mandate in protecting the natural resources, and noted that FRWO has intensified conservation measures in natural resources especially in Hyrcanian forests.

Mansour reiterated that watershed management and aquifer recharge projects in flood hotspots in flood-stricken provinces aim to reduce flood damage and prevent soil erosion and sedimentation. He said that six large structures were built in implementing IWM and flood control project in Quran Gate of Shiraz.
