Developing Implementation of IWM projects in Prudence and Hope Government

Minister of Agriculture Jahad emphasized the effectiveness of IWM projects in reducing flash floods, and reiterated: "implementation of IWM projects helps the flood prevention, and reduces any future damages in the critical and high-risk areas of flood-prone provinces. Therefore, implementing IWM and aquifer recharge projects is developed throughout the country in order to help the flood prevention."

According to FRWO's website, Kazem Khavazi, Minister of Agriculture Jahad in the ceremony of the 43rd week of 'Prudence and Hope for Surge in Production' campaign chaired by the President Hassan Rouhani said: "In Prudence and Hope government, Although IWM projects have been implemented in 6.2 million hectares, however, FRWO has targeted for the implementation of IWM projects in 7 million hectares before the end of the administration of Prudence and Hope government."

He reiterated that implementation of aquifer recharge and flood spreading projects in downstream plains may not only reduce flood damages in critical watersheds, but also can store rainwater in the aquifers and revive the Qanat network as ancient eco-technology for engineering a sustainable water supply.

Khavazi said that recharging Qanats’ water resources and reviving the Qanat network would revive abandoned villages and the spirit of life in the villages.

He noted that the Supreme Leader firmly supports IWM interventions and the allocating budget from National Development Fund (NDF) for implementation of IWM projects contributed a surge in production in the integrated watershed management sector.

He reiterated that the President also pays special attention to IWM projects among the high-priority national projects that proves the importance of IWM.

referring to the importance of cadastre mapping, Dr. Khavazi emphasized: "Cadastre mapping has been completed in 64 million hectares of public lands in Prudence and Hope government and it is anticipated that all public lands will be mapped as the remaining part of the project."
