Head of FRWO Emphasizes the Continuation of Logging Ban Initiative in the Seventh Development Plan

Head of FRWO emphasized the continuation of implementing the Logging Ban Initiative (LBI) in the seventh development plan and said that "Based on the expertise, FRWO considers essential to continuing LBI and lockdown of logging operation".

According to FRWO's website, quoted from IRNA, Massoud Mansour attended the Administrative Council meeting of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Gilan Province on Wednesday, and stated that the forest, like the range, needs the management plan. He stressed: “The forest should not be managed without a management plan; however, forest management plan includes unavoidable measures for protecting forest resources. The plan should be written aimed at FRWO’s desired goals, based on semi detailed studies that are being conducted and should be directed towards detailed studies and executive programmes.

He reiterated that technical measures in forest areas is an integral part of FRWO's programmes in conserving forest resources.

Head of FRWO noted that the responsibility of FRWO in natural resources management is very crucial and said: "FRWO has the duty to protect natural resources and has intensified conservation measures in natural resources especially in Hyrcanian forests".

He expressed hope that the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) studies on the Hyrcanian areas would be completed and that the 3 million hectare Hyrcanian forests would be managed properly.
