Timber Farming is a Strategy in Developing Provincial Economy

Governor General of Gilan referring to the important role of timber farming in providing raw materials, economy, employment and livelihood and meeting the needs for wood imports and increasing exports, said: "Governorate considers timber farming a strategy in developing provincial economy."

According to FRWO’s website, Arsalan Zare, Governor General of Gilan in the meeting of wood farming development working group with attendance of Dr. Massoud Mansour, Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO as well as virtual attendance of provincial authorities including Governors and Director Generals on Wednesday referred to the prediction of the implementation of the wood farming plan in 6, 600 hectares of Gilan lands in the upstream documents and the law of the Sixth Development Plan, and noted: " Efforts have been made to develop timber farming, and the project has been implemented in 2,500 hectares and will be implemented in 2,000 hectares next year".

He referred to the need for five million cubic meters of raw materials needed by cellulose industry and related sectors in Gilan as a hub for the production of MDF and wood sheets, and reiterated: “Due to restrictions on wood imports and the implementation of Logging Ban Initiative (LBI) in Hyrcanian Forests, wood farming development is the best way to meet the needs”.
