Forest Enrichment Operation in 47,000 Hectares in 2020

Dr. Khavazi noted: "Forest enrichment operation has been carried out in 47,000 hectares in 2020 which is multiple times more than previous years."

According to FRWO's website quoted from Iran Agriculture News Agency (IANA), Minister of Agriculture Jahad in the sidelines of ceremony of Arbor Day and Natural Resources and the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Week, regarding the importance of tree planting and protection of natural resources said that Arbor Day coincides with the day of benevolence and charity affairs, and by involving wider social classes of society in charity affairs, it effectively meets ociety's needs and aspirations of populations."

He said that tree planting is a precious tradition inherited to us and it is our responsibility to celebrate it with great glory.

He reiterated that FRWO had targeted 30,000 hectares plantation in the form of wood farming this year, of which some 20,000 hectares in form of planted forests as well as forest development and enrichment in 47,000 hectares around the country."

Planting trees in 35,000 hectares in order to combat desertification is so satisfying, which could turn into desert forests in the future.

Dr. Kazem Khavazi noted: “About 100,000 hectares of rangeland has been identified for development of medicinal herbs, and about 10,000 hectares had been planned for the cultivation of fruitful plants and trees in 2020 that has been realized by FRWO”.

He said that FRWO made a huge leap in sapling plantation and expressed hope that considerable development would be carried out in the field of natural resources, arboriculture and forestry.
